Lesson 08: Description of Physical World Map | Projection & Formation of Physical Map | eLecturepk

Our Earth's total area is 510.1 mkm square. It is divided into two parts land and water. Land portion is comprised of continents, countries, mountains, deserts, plains and it's percentage is 29% while water areas comprised of oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, glaciers, soil moisture and in air as water vapors and it's percentage is 71%.Fresh water is only 3% and salty water is 97%.

According to area numbers of continents are:
  1. Asia
  2. Africa
  3. North America
  4. South America
  5. Antarctica
  6. Europe
  7. Australia
According to Population:
  1. Asia
  2. Africa
  3. Europe
  4. North America
  5. South America
  6. Australia
  7. Antarctica
Europe and Asia are closers to each other so called Eurasia collectively, Rural mountains separates both.
Russia is part of both continents. Africa's 60% population is less than 25 years of age so it is called youngest continent. Thousands years ago there was a single continent called Pangea or Super continent later due to continental drift continents separates from each other. Antarctica is totally frozen and uninhabited continent. Oceans: According to area
  1. Pacific
  2. Atlantic
  3. Indian
  4. Antarctic or southern
  5. Arctic or Northern ocean.
Pacific is largest and covers half area of water and more than the area if land in its east there is north, south America and in west Australia and Asia are situated.
Atlantic is second largest it looks like English word S in its east Europe and Africa and West north and south America situated.
Indian ocean is third largest in its north Asia in east Australia and West Africa is situated. Southern ocean is fourth largest it is totally frozen, in its north Pacific, Atlantic and Indian ocean situated and continent Antarctica is in it's central part.
Northern ocean is smallest ocean it is also frozen only in summers some ice melts and icebergs starts floating on its surface.
