Bora-Bora is a volcanic island which is located in the Society Islands of French Polynesia. It surfaced in the central South Pacific Ocean around 265 km northwest of Tahiti. In World War II the island plays its alliance role by offering an Allied naval base, and the islet of Mute, on the northwest side of Bora-Bora’s reef which was an Allied air base as well. Bora-Bora economy is based on the tourism.
